My first grab

This wedding was done under some fairly restictive conditions. "ambient light only, don't move around, stay back over here, etc.", in other words -  be invisible.
Anyway, with a Century Optics .7x adapter with no additional filtering at about 40 feet I mistakenly shot the whole thing in letterbox mode  :-[  White balance was challenging with overhead tungstens and sun streaming in through stained glass.
The original grab was over 140k so I cropped and resized it up to 720x480 for this post in PaintShop Pro 9. Looks darker and more contrasty here than than in PSP, could be the compression I guess.
Ok, I guess I've exhausted all the excuses I can think of. All comments welcome!

Oh, yeah. How could I forget;
DVX100, 30P, ped -4, no gain, chroma -2, chroma phase -1, color temp +1, gamma norm, skin tone off, matrix norm, vert detail thin.

Re: My first grab

Isn't it a shame that you couldn't put a bounce board next to them for a fill?

Oh well. Nice grab.

Re: My first grab

The couple looks extremely happy and you certainly captured that. So I don't see anything wrong with your grab at all. (If I was gonna complain, I'd say that the Groom needed a tiny bit of Head Makeup so that the light didn't bounce off it so harshly) ;)

I'm betting that the happy couple are gonna be very pleased with their wedding video and thats the most important thing.

Re: My first grab

Hey, thanks for the comments. You may have guessed I'm not too happy with the video, but weddings aren't my thing anyway. Heh, the last one I shot was on Super8 almost 30 years ago.

TC, yes a bounce would have been great especially with the groom's deep-set eyes. However I did get a few good frames where photog's flash was still fading and I'll use some of that for the DVD photo gallery.

Thistlebop, The couple came in to preview my first rough cut and were actually very pleased. So that's the best part as you said.

Thanks again for the response.
