Ok, heres the first grab I have. I wanted it to be from my short for february, but I have to reshoot all of that because it sucks ass.

So I was messing around trying things and this is my first grab I felt like posting. I really think I could/should so some more with the color, but give me your feedback please.

I like the framing. Lots of background depth. I'd use more light, or open up your iris, or take down your shutter speed to allow more light to enter the unit.

I agree.

+ i really would like it much more with the dog in the center position showing more carpet and less background....

But it's good for a first grab...

Good luck with your short!

Did you mask the dog? He looks soft.

Re: My first grab, tips please!

sadly the dog looking soft is my own dumb fault.

actually what i did was use cookie cutter and use an oval cut away, copied the media into vegas twice, in two layers. used the same oval cut away, "cut everything but selection" in one layer, "cut selection only" in the other layer, then did a gaussian blur to everything behind the dog.

It only works on very static shots, unless you want to adjust it upon every drastic movement, but its still cool i thought :)
