Hey everyone so this is nothing special at all. Just used my cam for the first time today. Couldn't go outside cuz its raining : (. Still learning setting stuff. Can you all tell me how this look?

I used no special lighting or anything. Just my dad washing some socks. lol. Personal I know. Anyway, please let me know if you see lines or anything. The color looks a lil washed to me. Could be because I need lighting? IDK. I did export this using quicktime conversion HD settings. thanks!!

looks normal to me considering the lighting . the conversion to quicktime washes it out a little bit...and also if u have the settings stock then the dvx is naturally pretty washed out.

Not sure whats up with that aspect ratio though...duno why its not filling the screen.

Hey jambredz! thanks so much for replying. Do you have any settings suggestions so I can keep the color? thanks so much

well u'd have to push the contrast up a bit more...but then it maybe 2 contrasty for normal footage(depending on your taste). Meaning it maybe fine for the net and the conversion with quicktime ...2 rich when u go on dvd or back to tape.

I would leave it more or less flat coloured and colour it in post. ..but if ur not into colouring or just cant in post you can use

Master ped to crush blacks giving more contrast (lower paster ped gives more contrast)
u can play with colour temp to give a warmer or cooler look
cinegamma "Bpress" will give u more contrast also.

Take a look over in the custom scene files thread and there are ALOT of looks there u can experiment with for in camera settings. Write them down and try them out. I used to use "8ball bpress" and that gives very rich contrasty colours. However i;m getting more into colour grading and am goin to be shooting more flat.

Here's a vid with 8ball bpress settings and a bit of contrast curve added in post.
..oh and i think i custom white balance to a light blue wall to give a warmer look.
