My first footage w/a DVX

I finally got some of the footage up from my first 1 or 2 days of shooting with my DVX100B. It could be better...the camera is quite shaky, because almost everything was handheld, and 1 or 2 shots were a bit over saturated. What do you guys think?

Very nice. Any CC with those clips? You got some nice DOF shots, did you zoom in for those or use a 35mm adapter?

I zoomed, which is why the footage was a bit shaky.
This is raw footage, just a DVX100B and no color correction.

My bandwidth exceeded it's limit, so I updated the link which is now on a different server.

The tree. The tree!

The tree. The tree!

Hey salils,

Nice collection of shots.

Man, this cam looks good.

I'm looking forward to shooting some on my new cams too.

BTW, at about 1:04 when you show that fresh sapling distinctly lit by the playset...geez I giggled.

As you transitioned the shot on the cymbal crescendo of the music and then the slow zoom...I was waiting for something really IMPORTANT to happen. Like maybe this was the original tree of life or something. For some reason I started to laugh out loud.

No disrespect intended. I laugh at things others might not.

Well done. Now to get my camera out for it's first runs.

sincerely,

ian

Hey, Nice footage.

but theres one thing.
I love the song. and i know its in a movie.
but i CANT think of WHAT it is. What song is that? and do you know what movie it was from?

hey nice shots!!!!

way to pull the DOF out of the dvx.

about half way thru, there is a cool transition between a newspaper rack focus to the swingset. what transition is that?

My scene file settings:
Detail Level: 0
V Detail Level: 0
Detail Coring: 0
Chroma level: +5
Chroma Phase: 0
Color Temp: -1
Master Ped: -5
A. Iris Level: 0
Gamma: B. Press
Knee: Auto
Matrix: Normal
Skin tone detail: off
V Detail freq: Thin
Progressive: 24P (Advanced)

As for the transition, it was a cross wind blur that you can get for Final Cut here.

Finally, the way I was able to blur out the background was due to a shallow depth of field achieved by opening the iris fully and zooming in. It also helps if the subject is closer to the camera.

The song is called "Adiemus" by Enya. I'm not sure what movie it's from.

Very nice footage, at some point I was expecting the music to fade down to a slower tempo and the bunny rabit to start talking like an indian chief.

dam, you just inspired me to pull out my camera and start shooting "stuff". this looks so dam good.

i liked the song so much i just bought from itunes
