My First Film: a mock epic trailer

Its actually an ad/trailer-ish for an upcoming website. My brother is a history teacher in a university in London. Him an some of his history-geek colleagues are developing this website and he asked me to do some kind of a promo for it. So this is what I came up with.

The music in case anyone is wondering is an original track composed by a friend of mine.

Thank you for the comments. Please keep them coming. I look forward to some criticism so I can improve.

Well done man! I think its good for a first short.

Only thing I had a prob with is that the words were too big. Sleeker maybe better IMHO. And not so close to the safe areas. But again that just personal preference.

Isn't it spelled civiliZation? But great work, nonetheless...

Be well...Jeffro

"the words were too big"
I hadn't actually thought about that but now that you mention it, I DO notice it. I guess they could have been done better. By the way - "IMHO". I'm on't quite know what that abbreviation stands for. Could you please let me know.

"Also did u shoot it or just use stock footage. What programs did you use?"
The whole short was created using stills. So I didn't shoot any footage. I did however take some high rez photographs and then use After Effects to animate them and do some VFX stuff with them.

"Isn't it spelled civiliZation?"
Americans spell civili(s/z)ation with a Z. Brits spell it with S.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I enjoyed the trailer very much. It was suitably epic and suitably intriguing as a promo.

The only thing I would criticise is the line: Civilisations have come and gone.

It sounds too colloquial. Girlfriends come and go, great civilisations should Rise and Fall or something even more dramatic.

Hmm. Its true what you say. Girlfriends do come and go. Trains come and go. Sunshine in London comes and go. But civilisations rise and fall.

Guess some thing like 'History has seen...the rise and fall of many civilisations' would have been more appropriate.
