Re: My First DVX Project

The first two and third looked real grainy, the others I liked, thats a **** load of snickers...

Re: My First DVX Project

Where did u get the dope from? The guy looks leaner inspite of all those snickers. Damn him ;D
I think ur shoots need an optimum combo of contrast and brightness.

Re: My First DVX Project

I agree with the grain comment. Looks like you're using natural light. You might want to throw a light or two on your subject. Then again, the extra heat will make the Snickers melt.

I really like the nightime shot, outside. Nice stuff. Good luck and have fun with your new camera. Keep those chocolate hands away from it!

Re: My First DVX Project

I think your shots have potential.

They will greatly benefit from some levels adjustment in your NLE. Boost the black and white levels and you will have a stronger looking picture.

Overall, it looks to me like these shots are very underexposed. They have a flatness that is symptomatic of underexposure and your subjects are not standing out from the background as much as they could. Looks like you could have benefited from having the iris open a little more.

Shots 1 and 4: The background totally overwhelms the subject. If this is what you were going for then fine, but if not, definitely utilize a narrow depth of field or change the background so it's not fighting so much with the foreground.

Shot 3: Looks like the white balance is way off here. Make sure you do a white balance before shooting.

Shot 6: Using a polarizer filter will help you penetrate through glass reflection. Right now, it's hard to see what's behind.

Keep at it. Half the fun is learning all of this stuff.

No, that's ALL the fun. The rest is just work. I was too lazy to write a critique, so let's just say that Disjecta is right on here. Open up the iris, and make sure white balance is set right. Also, you might use a reflector board to give your subjects a bit of punch.
