My first DVX grading...

I have been manually color correcting footage for a while now, usually either with manual settings in After Effects or with a photoshop action + psd sequence + batch.

I upgraded to CS3 when I did my first shoot ever (i'm a post-production guy mostly), and just got around to getting the new MB Looks. Love it.

Anyhoo...here's a few stills from the wedding video. Note...i'd get shot if the bride (my best friend) knew I posted the last one. It was a random spot I picked for the frame grab...and their faces are...uh....priceless.

Original, unaltered frame grab (unaltered save for crappy photobucket jpg compression + jpg compression coming out of the software, etc...was 1st grab ever, was n00b to software).

Same ceremony with MB looks on it, didn't tweak any settings (don't test stuff by tweaking, i test by seeing what it does on its own first, shrank down to 600px wide to fit on my site)

This was when they were leaving. The sun was behind the building, about 30mins before sunset, they didn't rent any lights, i only had 4hrs play time with the camera before the wedding, etc...so ya...before you flame me to death...it WAS my first time holding the camera, save for 4hrs night prior making sure i had the 24p workflow down (and inside w/ my kids).

Original "look" (this is blown up from a 300px wide flash export for web).

And the "i'm going to get killed for posting this" pic...with MB on it...just clicked through stuff til i got something i liked...and they liked as well :-D

The last photo I like, but this is one thing to keep in mind (if your even going with that look).

You want to keep the colors bright crisp, as good as possible. As cool as MB looks, you don't want to lose quality by desaturating the image.

That couple is going to have that video for a lifetime, make sure it looks the best it possibly can.

Agreed. As soon as I get the PC back up, i'm going to go through and see what I can do. I like that look, but do agree that the colors need to punch back up a few notches.

I need to recalibrate my monitor....i think that played into color perception.

I'm glad i'm doing this for my best friend...i'd be pulling what little hair i could grow out...this whole editing thing is foreign ground to me.

Thanks for the feedback....keep it comin'!!
