My First Day with my new DVX

Hey people,

Here are some clips of the first time I ever used my new cam. I took the camera downtown to find a camera case and decided to cruise by the beach. There's skateboard park there and decided to just shoot a bit.

By the way this is my first upload of clips. I like to shoot and love to edit, but hate capturing so I get a little lazy in doing so. I just captured this last night and figured I'd put it up. Just clips, no editing or color correction. By the way, it was after watching these clips I fell in love with the camera. Keep in mind that before the dvx all I owned was a cheap 1 chip jvc.

go here for the clip:

first of all congrats on getting the camera, i too had a one chip before i got the dvx. I remember getting frustrate with the camera because i didn't know how to use it.. but anyway the clip is pretty neat ... it reminded me of the good ole days of skateboarding, good thing u didn't film me, I would be the kid who broke his face on the pavement..

keep shooting bro!

I had a one-chip jvc too! GR-DVL520u! ROCK! What settings did you use for your QuickTime compression? I have had a really hard time with QuickTime encoding, and it looked good.

MY 520u is my deck too. Works like a charm.

When I look back at the pictures with it, the low light shots are horrendous, but when it's outdoors, not bad for a 1/4" 1-chip with 680k pixels.

oh I forgot to get back to you about quicktime. I bought tiger so I have quicktime 7. From FCP/File/Export/Quicktime Conversion I selected medium broadband. The only change I made in the options to was to bring the sound down to 8khz because I wasn't worried about the sound quality of the clip and figured it would help bring down the compression.

Hey Hiro, maybe I'll post up a clip of me fallng hard from trying to ollie over my rail at about 2' high off the curb, I can easily do that now but it is still fun to watch it none the less. Rasquachemedia, I'm down here in Santa Maria pretty close to S.B. let's go skate or work on a short or something, it's so goddamn boring over here. Let me know what's up dizzog.

Don't skate? That's cool. I got a another short coming up pretty soon, I'm in pre-production right now, and I'm gonna need a crew. I'll PM you or something when it is solid and ready to go.
