wow, that looked fantastic

the lighting was very professional.

could you tell us a little about the setup? how many lights, where you placed them...etc?

thanks

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

great job on lighting and color balance. I really liked your compositions and use of DOF.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

Great idea to start than you backed it up with excellent production.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

googlymoogly.
I love it.
Don't know your nationality, but the british V/O really sells the drama.
good job.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

Great commercial,

Do you guys think the XL2 would be capable of creating that sort of beautiful, filmic image quality?

I'm trying to decide between the cameras, and it's quite difficult because the XL2 hasn't really been tested much. What do you guys think? Try to remember when the DVX100 first arrived, and what level of images you were seeing then. Thanks very much.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

I think the XL-2 would excel in image quality, but the DVX handles colors better (in my opinion). And in all tests I've seen, the DVX's 24p looks way better. It definitely stepped up to the plate for this concept.

Great spot, Patryk.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

I think any camera Patryk Rebisz used would deliver that kind of quality... he's simply an amazingly talented shooter.

The XL2 *should* be capable of similar results. Matt McDermitt sold his DVX and uses an XL2 now, so let's see his next video, I'm sure it'll show what the XL2 is capable of.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

Thanks a lot guys for your compliments.

Everything was lit with bounced light. We had a number of C-stands with bounceboards and then usually a 650w light lighting that board to bounce on the subject. To give the warm feeling we had some yellow gels and then to compensate the ninja also was lit with some cold (blue) light.

Finished spot comming up this Tuesday afternoon. Plus stay tuned to 2 more to finishe the story of the sad Ninja (end of October).

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

That was hilarious and looked amazing. Any lenses used on the DVX?

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

Great lighting!

Question: What'd you use for the bounce? Were they rigid form core boards or floppy white cards or something else?

And how'd you rig the glass for the first shot?

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

Nice cinematography man. And, of course, funny commercial.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

The glass was just handheld in fron of the lens. It was a quick shot so there was no need to do anything else but hold it with 2 fingers.

Re: My firs spec commercial (Ninja stills)

absolutely amazing.

in concept AND execution.

haha. im a fan of ninjas, so i wouldve loved it even if it sucked. but it definatley doesnt.

i wish TV commercials were as good as THIS was. great job!
