My favourite sci-fi I've seen in years: Never Let Me Go

What I find interesting about this piece is that the Sci-fi element is very important to creating the drama, yet it doesn't feel like sci-fi in any way. Interesting approach.

Personally I didn't enjoy it. It was well done, well put together, but I never fully connected to the characters or the situations they were going through. The protag I had some sympathy for, but that's as far as it went.

I Think it's an almost defeatist sense of what is to come that shaped the shallow characters. That of livestock, destine for slaughter.

And thus no clear drive to strive for something, like getting out. Okay that's wrong, they were trying to clear themselves by proving they're in love, but that felt like a tiny little blip in the overall story.
