My dvx had a walk in the mountains

Hi,

I went for a walk in the swiss Alps last saturday. I decided to take my dvx with me to see what kind of pictures in that environnment I could achieve. So I tried regular (25i) settings and 25p settings. The 25p images cames out really good.

So here are three frame grabs, nothing extraordinary. But I find them nice.

I'm doing a 3 minutes short with the footage. If it turns good and if someone is interested I will post a link when it will be finished in one or two days.

I would be incredibly interested - your grabs look amazing!! :)

Re: My dvx had a walk in the mountains

Alex, they look great....Wish I could get up one morning and take a walk in the mountains...

Re: My dvx had a walk in the mountains

Man, you are lucky to have those mountains in your back yard!!! I'll trade you the beaches for that...

I think Switzerland has the best mountains...though I've never been there. I have lots of Swiss friends, though.

Re: My dvx had a walk in the mountains

Hi,

Thank you all for the nice comments. I've made a short of it.

Don't expect something extraordinary. There is no real story, it's just footage I tried to arrange more or less nicely. And it's kind of shaky because everything was handheld. My tripod was too heavy (the leazy one) to come with us.

So in this walk, it was me, a friend and a dvx in it's simpliest outfit (a dvxuser.com battery and 2 tapes).

Just for the background. I hadn't see this friend since three years, because he was in Australia. But I had with him some great and scary adventures in the Alps before. Like a 20 hours rock climbs, where we almost sleept in the face. But he likes video and we plan to do a short soon. But we must write or find a scenari first. Otherwise 6 monts ago I was a total stranger in the video field. The dvx is my first camera, but a hell of a good one. So don't expect top quality as the great footage we see on this website.

So some footage is in 25i and some in 25p. And A polarizer was used on my dvx100. It's in quicktime (20mb - 3 min).

I tried too to encode it in windows media 9 with sorenson squeeze, but I got crappy results. My black are faded and the quality is bad. What are your settings for wm9.

Re: My dvx had a walk in the mountains

Wow, I really liked that Alex. Our mountains in Wales are only half the size! noice choice of music...

Re: My dvx had a walk in the mountains

Hey Alex, nice grabs. And careful when you say 25i. It is either 50i or 25p.

All the best

Fidel.
