My disappearing act

It's nice to read all your thoughtful posts. Stuff like this always turns everything you know upside down. I've been dreading his death for two years and didn't think I'd be able to handle being with him in the hospital and hospice, but that part was easier than I thought. I thought I'd intellectually prepared for his passing, but it's a lot harder than I thought it would be. It's weird, he was an electrical and audio engineer and I used to ask him questions all the time and I still have these questions that pop up that I feel like I could almost still ask him. Like it's just a really paper thin line between us that prevents us from talking. Sort of like I'm just on the verge of being able to talk to him, if only I could shift around the right way, or dial the right number. It's just strange.

Barry, I totally know what you mean. My father passed away in 2001, and there are still times I get that feeling. It's very... I dunno if this is the right word... but abstract is what pops to mind.

You are totally in my thoughts and have my sincere condolenses.

Barry - oddly enough I had a very close friend pass away from cancer just recently, he was also an electrical and audio engineer. I know what you mean about having those questions pop up that you feel like you could still ask him.

My wife and I wish you and your family the best - as obviously everyone here does.
It will get better.
Glad to hear you are coping.

Sorry to hear about your loss. My father died of cancer as well. I miss him, but still feel he's with me in spirit everyday. Take care of yourself and your family.
