My disappearing act

I just wanted to let some of you know that I'm still around and will eventually get around to answering all your PM's. I apologize in advance for not being more involved in SciFest in the last few weeks, but I've had to deal with my father's hospitalization for cancer and attend to family matters when he passed away last week. So I've been shuttling back and forth between DC and Chicago and haven't been able to spend much time on the board. I know Jarred's got things under control for SciFest, but once again we've got a new system and we may have some bugs to work out. I'll do whatever I can to help Jarred and make sure that everyone get's their film uploaded correctly and in shape for viewing. I look forward to seeing all the films and spending more time on the board.

Cheers,

Barry

I'm sorry for your loss Barry, but I'm glad to see a post from you.

Thought you might have skipped out on us.

Barry,

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss.

I lost my father when I was 21 and it was hard, still is.

Take care of yourself,

Chris

Barry, sorry to hear about your loss. I've been there before and only time can soften the blow.

Best,

J.

What can I say that hasnt already been said? Thoughts and prayers are with you. And yes, family first.

Hey Barry, My condolences on your father's passing. Things like that put everything else in perspective. I mean, my father and I seem to lock horns and have gone for long periods of time without speaking to each other. It's ridiculous. We both need to understand that before it's too late.

Barry, I lost my father to cancer January 1, 2000. I still miss him and I feel your pain. He'll always be with you.

Barry, certain things happen in life that will make you a better and stronger person. I'm sure your father was a wonderful person, pass on his life to your children and their childrens children.

It's nice to read all your thoughtful posts. Stuff like this always turns everything you know upside down. I've been dreading his death for two years and didn't think I'd be able to handle being with him in the hospital and hospice, but that part was easier than I thought. I thought I'd intellectually prepared for his passing, but it's a lot harder than I thought it would be. It's weird, he was an electrical and audio engineer and I used to ask him questions all the time and I still have these questions that pop up that I feel like I could almost still ask him. Like it's just a really paper thin line between us that prevents us from talking. Sort of like I'm just on the verge of being able to talk to him, if only I could shift around the right way, or dial the right number. It's just strange.

Sorry to hear about your father. This is a very difficult time, so just take care of yourself. We'll be here for you.
