I hope this is just a phase...
but I'm....
in love...
with
SUSHI...
It's like a THING with me...I'm spending all my time at Sushi message boards...and I talk about sashimi and nigiri in my dreams...
Uh-Oh.....real quick I need you to do this for me......immediately go to your nearest Dunkin' Donuts, order the "Great One" coffee with 8 sugars & two creams, then two Boston Creme donuts.
After you tip back and take the first sip of your coffee you say this, "There is nothing in the World like going one on one with the Great One!" ;D
Too late! :-/ :'(
Dude, I LEFT THE HOUSE with my own chopsticks one day because I knew that I would pass by a supermarket that sold little sushi trays...
and I've only gotten sick from it once...
I had something called a "Stop light" which is a roll with Salmon roe, Wasabi tobiko and a RAW QUAIL EGG on top...we didn't realize the egg would be raw, but the waitress kind of stood there and forced us to eat it...lol
Man that's one of the required food groups in my family. Love sushi. Unfortunately since the wife's been pregnant and she can't eat it we've had to take a break... OH THE PAIN!!!!!!!!!!
Hello. My name is Matt and I'm a recovering Wasabiholic... It's been three year, four months and twenty-two days since my last bite.
It all started simply enough, you know, just a little bit when out with friends, hell everyone was doing it. Then one of my coworkers found out, turns out he was into it too. He used to take out a few big clients and get them all the wasabi they could handle. Well, I thought this would be an opportunity, you know, for advancement and all, so I started hanging out them, doing more and more of the stuff. But I couldn't just do it on the weekends. Pretty soon, I'm out every night cruising the sushi bars, looking for Mr. Green stuff. Eventually it began to affect my work. For a while the other guys covered for me but then after showing up late for an important meeting, the boss noticed the green stain around my lips... I tried to find another job... actually that's not true, but I did pretend to. That caused a lot of fights between me and the wife, but she was in denial about it as much as I was. That is until she caught me with that underage Japanese hooker. I tried to tell her that she was just there for sex, but my wife new better than that - wasabi does things to, bad things, down there.... you know... Anyway she figured out that Yoko was really my connection and tossed my ass out. Next thing you know I'm living on the streets, turning tricks just to make enough scratch for a hit. Scrounging behind the sushi bars for scraps... It wasn't pretty. Fortunately I found the Lord and this group and have been able to kick for good. Well, you never really kick, you know, but day by day, I get by.
I would like to thank my sponsor, Pookie, for all his help. I couldn't have done it without you man.
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan...sounds just like my story...
except for a while I tried to ween myself off of it with the imitation "non-raw" sushi...It was like nicorette.....
*sigh*
But I've relapsed. This monkey has strong kung-fu!
Yea, I hate when people do that... I will always try something at least once before deciding whether I like it or not. That's how I discovered I LOVE cow tongue...man is that good!!!
ah, ****. i read the thread and now i got to tell y'all: i friggin live for spicy tuna hand roll, a small smear of mayo and dipped in soy. damn it! creamy salty fishy nasal-clearing goodness. and mackerel. mm. damn. recently i've taken to dragon rolls. don't fight it. just let it be the beautiful jones it is.
I finally sprung $30 at the local supermarket for a sushi making kit; love it. Kind of a pain to make yourself, but god do you impress your fellow addicts!
