My 4K does look like 4K...

I've been playing with the Sony a6500 in video mode shooting 4K and 1080p slow motion, and looking at the footage, im not too impressed.

I am shooting in Cine 4, with an f/4 lens at about 200-3200 iso depending on the lighting.
The 4K footage and the 1080p slow-mo is very noisy and its soft.
It just doesnt cut it for me.

Not sure whats up.
Is it just bad in low light?

I looking through YouTube and watching other films with the same camera and they dont look as bad, even in very dark conditions.

Do those YouTube people claim to be shooting in Cine 4? Bear in mind that YouTube's compression can make noise less apparent, and the video producer might have done some noise reduction and sharpening in post. If you're at 3200 ISO, you'll probably get better results with Cine 2 or the Standard picture profile, but you won't have as much dynamic range.

What if I use S-Log 3 and crank the ISO higher so its overexposed by 2 stops?
I saw a video test that used S-Log 2 and 10-20K ISO and it was extremely clean footage. (Although some of it was wider aperture lenses)

Or would the Cine 2 be better as you said?

I haven't messed with S-Log 3, everyone seems to recommend S-Log 2 or Cine 4 for high contrast scenes. Exposing to the right should effectively lower the noise floor, Ebrahim Saadawi had an interesting thread on the subject.
What's the nature of your shots? Are there building lights you don't want blown out? Ideally you would shoot 2.8 or faster in low light.

The 1080 on that particular a6300/6500 camera line is pretty bad - line skipping I think. However, in my opinion, the 4K results are quite good. I typically have my sharpening set to 0 and shoot in Cine4 or S-Log2.
