Hey guys,

Here's the link to my short documentary piece on Leonard Knight and his amazing artwork east of the Salton Sea: Salvation Mountain.

It was an interesting shoot that put the AF100 through a windy, sand blown environment.

Beautiful in all respects and the pace felt wonderfully measured and contemplative. Amazing how much you (and your subject) manage to convey in such a short period of time.

That would be a great location for a film about a insanely religious family that abducts passers and violently converts them to their way. Could be a crazy story.

Was that pretty much the look as it came out of the camera, or did you do much grading in post? The high contrast and saturated colors worked really well for this subject.

Like any well made film, this one left me wanting to know more about this subject and his story. Very well done.

Thanks for the great comments guys. The location was pretty high contrast with all the bright colors. I did some color grading in magic bullet, but not a lot.

Which lens? DOF wasn't very shallow but it still didn't scream video.

Nice video, well done :)

I loved it. What a great subject to interview! One thing that would make it more powerful would be to end on him instead of cutting away to the mural of "is love" is to leave it on him...I almost wanted him to look back at the mountain he created or just give a final knod or something.

Very visually pleasing. =) Love everyone great message

Hey guys. Thanks for all the kind words. I've had some rights complications with the music. So I've had to strip it from the film for the time being. But, I've found a new composer and I think the film will be far better with his music! We're currently putting the finishing touches on it and I will be updating it soon.

Ordinarily I would 100% agree with you. But once you meet Leonard, you realize he is one of the most selfless human beings on the planet. He is humble and meek. I wanted to end on him but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the message is what Leonard wants to share with the world. He often says, "I'm not an artist, I can't do anything. So I ask God, use me if you can."

Hearing that I realized that it's more about the message and less about the man.

I agree Jon. I've met him a dozen times or so. It's about his message (Make that Gods message) that describes Leonard.
