my 1080i 24p footage looks interlaced help!

Does anyone have an answer about changing 1080p footage into 720p and get rid the the interlanced lines? I'm working on a Mac.

from barry hvx book pag.90:
dvcpro-hd 720p is always progressive scan;there is no such thing as interlaced 720i......
.....1080i/24p:this means that the RECORDING STREAM IS INTERLACED,but the images are created as genuine 24p."

so...for what i have understand becouse 1080 mode record in interlacing mode this can cause (not always)that looks like an interlaced footage.

Yes, it is recorded that way, after being scanned as progressive. This is why you remove pulldown. Once you do, you have your progressive frames back. No interlacing. No artifacts.

I'll be working with a PAL HVX for the first time and editing in Adobe Premiere. I'm going for a progressive look and not interlaced. After looking at Premiere's settings for DVCPROHD, I'm unsure which setting I should choose when recording on the HVX ... 25p or 25pn or 50p? (I think those are the settings since I don't have the camera in front of me.)

The reason why I ask is because in Premiere, they only have a PAL setting of 720p 50p.

If I shoot 50p, do I need a separate software to convert it to 25p?

Can I just shoot 25p/25pn and drag it into the 720p 50p timeline and it'll look like 25p?

Do I shoot 25p/25pn and drag it into the HDV720p25 timeline instead?

If I decide to shoot 1080p instead, do I shoot 1080i/25p or 25pa, drag it into the DVCPROHD 1080i 50i timeline, and then use some external software to make it true 25p?

Thanks for any help on this subject.

You can change the preset to 25p. If you want 25p, shoot pN. Don't shoot 50p.

There is no 25pA. And again, you can manually change the timeline to 25p.
