right on Zzx4k - the PNW is wonderful. I'd love to get back there. Much more nature then here (philly/nyc)

ZanucK - I'm in my mid twenties, been supporting myself freelance for about 5 years.

Jorge - i just totally blank on the music (its been a long day sorry!). I'll get back to you
 
ps - about working freelance, 90% supporting myself from my Broadcast/ENG/Doc work and 10% from creative projects. Figured some might find that interesting.

I live in Baltimore and am starting my own freelance company, weddings, concerts, gigs, etc.

I look forward to a freelance career as well.

You live in the NYC to Philly area?

Do the gigs come to you, or do you network yourself to companies, etc. etc. Just curious since I am trying to get more into doing that type stuff..

My permeant address is philly. My GF lives here and I teach one day a week a Temple Univeristy so I'm here a lot. When I'm done teaching this semster I may be making a full time move to NYC because I've been working a lot more in NYC lately.

At first I had to really seek out a lot of work, in the last few years its been a lot of networking, people giving me good recommandations and working for some of the same clients over and over again.

I would say in the past year probably 85% of my work was from references or past clients, and 15% from applying to freelance gigs online.
 
ps - good luck on your company. Working freelance or running your own business can be one of the most rewarding experiences, stressful at time, but the freedom it allows you can be not be compared to working for someone else.
 
Thanks for the information, it definitely is something I am looking to do, and seeing that it works and can support you sufficiently is great.

Working customer service at Ritz Camera, and Giant Pharmacy, it honestly did suck working under something, the freedom of a personal business is so much more appealing.

Your demo reel was awesome by the way.
