hey andrew. i was thinking mxo, but i know the mxo2 is coming out. all i would be using it for is color correcting using my 23" cinema display and apple color. any advantages using the new one if that is all i would be using it for? i'm thinking the original mxo is right for me. any reason i'm wrong? can you pm me with the mxo price?

The MXO 2 will not work with the Apple Cinema Display for color correction. It serves a different purpose. It doesn't have DVI out, it has HDMI in and out, as well as component, composite, sdi and svideo.

They are two different boxes with two different purposes.

thanks shane. that's what i thought. plus that's a few hundred bucks towards some other gear. or rent or food or savings.... nah. towards gear.

If I understand the features that we wont need to use Raylight or some plugins to read HVX200 MXF files to edit on Final Cut Pro, right? It seems to edit many formats in real time. I need to make sure that it does almost everything in real time instead conversion into .mov files from different formats. Its time consuming to deal with the conversion.

You don't understand the features. The MXO doesn't enable FCP to work with MXF files natively.

Conversion is time consuming? Man...you must REALLY not like tape then. Conversion is faster than real time.

I guess you are not a FCP user. Whenever I want to use MXF then I have to use a log & transfer. It converts mxf into mov for editing unless I use Raylight to reduce the lengthy of conversion. I was hoping that MXO2 would be able to enable us to edit MXF natively like they did with Premiere in the past.
