We just bought 2 HVX200s and 4 4gig P2 cards...and im going on location to shoot...now my question is, can i just pull the .MXF files to a harddrive and convert them later?

I have shot some things on the P2 drives, but i want to clear them before i go back on location.

Thanks for your time,

AX

Yes, It's on page 84 in your HVX manuel. Keep in mind that you can only make 15 transfers. The HVX makes a new partition on the hard drive for each P2 card transfer. Most hard drives only allow 15 partitions. Since you have 4 gig cards you only need a 80 gig hard drive (4gig x 15 partitions plus 20 gigs for buffer). Anything bigger than that is a wast of money. Unless of course you happen to have a bigger drive just laying around.

Ok thanks,

My last question is Dubbing to a DV tape off of P2. If i dub the 720 30pn (60fps) to a mini DV. Will it caputure the progressive 60fps? Or should i just convert the .mxf files to premiere pro 2

No. It will only record what DV25 can handle. 60P is twice the info as 60i and DV25 can't handle it.
I am a FCP guy so you're gonna' have to refer to the forum concerning MXF workflow in Premier Pro.
