MXF-Premiere4 voice to text, metadata error

Hi all

Im using Premiere CS4. I have allot of footage/interviews that I need to have transcribed. Now,.. dont laugh here. I actually want to use premiere's voice to text abilities. The tonal qualities of this particular talent actually seem to work pretty well with Cs4's voice to text function. I dont end up with too much jibberish.

Here is my issue. When I try to pull up the V2T (AKA: voice to text function) using the MXF files shot on my HVX. It will not read them. From memory here, it always says something like, "File/Meta Data cannot be modified". Basically, it looks like my MXF files will not allow premiere to modify the file's meta data, and therefore, it will not do the V2T function??. The only way I have been able to do this is export the audio to a wav file, bring it back in and let premiere go to town. This of course is a complete waste of time.

I hope I have been articulate enough here for someone to understand my problem and offer some help. I am away from my editing system so I cannot recite the exact message premiere gives me, as a reason it cannot do a V2T scan.

Thanks Much
