MXF converter

Greetings,

Captured some footage in the field a few weeks ago. Put it on my PC notebook for the first time using P2ingester. Trying to get to over to my Mac and FCP. I need to convert it to .MOV and I am looking for a converter. I Googled it and got back a lot of programs that seem like 'scamware'. Are there any freeware programs to do this. If not what program should I be looking at.

Hey DM,

The free way would be to transfer the raw P2 MXFs over to the Mac and use Log and Transfer to bring them into FCP. You could also use Raylight for Mac to bring them directly into FCP bypassing Log and Transfer altogether to speed up your workflow, but that method is not free.

If you definitely need to bring DVCPRO HD or DVCPRO50 Quicktime movies over to the Mac, you can use Raylight Encoder Pro to make them, however, you'll need an NLE to view them and export from. Or you could also use DVFilm Maker to view the MXFs and in conjunction with Raylight Encoder Pro, export them to DVCPRO HD/DVCPRO50 Quicktimes.

You could also use Maker and export to Avid DXNHD Quicktimes which is a free codec.

Hope this helps.
Andy
