Must read if you use wireless mics.

Soooooo...........what's Sennheiser gonna do about my "useless" Evolution mics that I bought several years ago?

They put all the manufacturer's contact info on the site (how nice of them) What are we supposed to do, harass them?:grin::grin::grin:

June 13th, I'm going to fire up my C band evolution mic, and feel the rush of adrenaline that only a lawbreaker can feel. I'm pretty sure wireless crime is a gateway crime. I don't know where this will lead me, but I'm excited.

Oh, I'll "break the law" like nobody's business as long as it works.

I just don't want my audio track to sound like Nigel's amp when they played at the Air Force base in Spinal Tap.

PS: yes, I'm excited too. Gateway crime.

Wait, so if it uses that band at ALL you can't use them? The G2 goes well below that, but also sits in there as well, right? Can I just use the lower levels, or am I not allowed to use it at all since it's possible to go to that range? If the latter, that's stupid. That's like not selling cars that go above 75MPH since that's about the peak out here.

No, you can still use them legally, with certain caveats. You cannot cause interference to the new services in that band, and if a legitimate user complains, you have to cease use. Also, you must accept any interference caused by new users.

We have some legacy Senns we use at our church, and the other down side is that you can no longer have repairs made. We have two models, and one recently crapped out. Sennheiser offered upgrade deals for a while on certain models. Ours were not upgradable, so we are stuck buying new units.

my main question is how are they going to find you? are cops going to be driving around on june 13th with scanners listening to 700-800mhz freqs? and even when they find something its still a good 1/4 mile area where transmission will be "living". i bought 3 C kits a few years ago, as thats what sennheiser suggested for NC. So now i'm screwed. i had one guy in the UK lined up to buy 2 of them but he just backed out. that weekend is the 48 hour film fest so i'll def be running my wireless on the 12th and 13th. but i'm just going to have to be careful and check freqs before shoots.

read my post again. you are allowed to continue using legacy devices if and until you cause interference with a new service user, and that user complains.

I'm living in Korea, so if someone's looking to get rid of a pair of now defunct units, shoot me a message.
