I have been fortunate enough to get a lot of work doing music videos this year. In June after I heard about manual controls on the 5d I bought one and started using it for everything. below are the 5 I have done since June. Make sure to turn on HD. Looking forward to true 24p. Every video below was overcranked and conformed to 24p before transcoding to prores. I used mostly my 24mm f2 nikon prime and my 50mm 1.4 nikon for everything. I like vintage looking stuff so I kept the shutter as close 1/50 and 1/60 as possible mainly with a bevy of ND filters. thanks for looking.

I liked the Ozark empire video because you kept it simple, but through nice editing and excellent framing kept the story interesting.

Was the 24 used on those close ups or the 50?

It was the 50.

Typically I speed the music to 125 percent for playback so I can conform to 24p and have the performance still in sync. but in this case the artist didnt feel comfortable performing that fast. So when I got back and started looking at my options to get 24p (they didnt look good to me- I tried them all) so thats when I invented my own 24p by conforming to 24 then chopping the footage every 3 or 4 words to keep the vocal performance in sync with the song. It was a really happy accident and fits the frenetic style of music and gives the static footage a lot of life.
