Music Video

Hey everyone... I know this video is not nearly as good as most of the videos posted here, but I am a high school student and I am just getting into music videos (this is my second one), so I would really appreciate some feedback. The video was shot almost all on a DVX, with a couple shots from a VX 2100.

The video is at:

All feedback is welcomed. I am shooting another one next weekend. What should I try to do better that I didn't do so well in this one?

Thanks a lot.

ps: I know there is a sticky for music videos, but it doesn't seem like they get much feedback, so I hope no one minds that I made a new thread...

Not bad! Best thing to do when shooting vids is shoot the song static three different times close-up medium and wide shots and then play around with different shots.

I didn't care for the locations as is was only a performance video when shooting performance make sure the locations are on point and use proper lighting.

Other then that keep shooting!

I hope that helps.

try doing more cuts, the lighting needs improvement it seems like you direct it towards your actors try to put it more at and angle. The rapper doesnt seem to have much expression in my opinion. Overall the video is pretty good but there are areas where improvment is needed. I'm not a professional.

Also I didn't see that you're in high school you're starting at a good age for a second vid not bad.

Also I agree with the dolly shot keep moving also keep that camera moving and since you didn't use any the three point shooting system make the cuts faster from location to location and due some color correction then you'll have a tight vid on your reel.

A music video is always more entertaining with colour.
yours seems a bit dull.

Heres an example of how much better your videos can look with a couple minutes for CC'ing

this was only done in a couple minutes
im sure you can do alotttt better if you took the time. :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I agree with everything that has been said. Except taking out the gun haha. I'll work on the color correction for this one, and definitely get the camera moving and get a variety of close/medium/wide shots. thanks! I think I'm shooting another one this weekend, and I will hopefully have an HVX by then. I'm not sure if I'll use it though... I don't want to be learning how to use a camera while I'm working on something that I want to come out decent.
