Music Video

This is a rough cut of a video I did for a friend of mine. I'm not really into shooting music videos, but I liked the song. It was shot with my dvx100b, and it is not completed yet. The song goes into the first verse of another song at the end, but I won't be shooting that until two weeks from now. I just wanted an early opinion. The song is called ghetto, so I wanted it to look kind of gritty. I had $10 budget, and 0 lights.

Nice work from what i see so far. Being a music video director here are some of my intitial thoughts:

Work out a color treatment, the cool blue feel vs. the orange warm feel. If you want to keep that, there should be a reason.
The older woman singing the chorus hook, i'd say cut it to parts where she doesnt look away from the camera or has that look "like she's on the spot"

Love the street shots. Looks great. Also seeing as its a first cut, you may want to cut some of the performance out and try putting more of street shots etc.

Good stuff...Where'd you shoot it?

I shot it in Houston, TX (5th ward). I was wondering about the color scheme, and if I should include more cutaways. Thanks.

great job !

great job !

i really liked your clip ! for 10 bucks that's a ****in great video !

I'm thinking about buying a DVX100, that's why i'm looking in these threads for uncompressed DVX footage.

I produce short action movies. I have the choice between DVX100 and VX2100 or HDR-FX1... But I'm not shure that HDV 1080i is the best way to go since i don't have HDV monitors...

IMHO Well this video looked like film...

What treatment did you apply to it ?

Did you shoot in progressive mode ? 24P ?
