Music Video

Man, this is looking great! The tv effects work well. What kind of lighting setup did you use for the indoor scnenes?

Good job.

As you may have noticed, I am the Simon Cowell of DVX sometimes.
This video is wicked. Great job so far.
The cutting is fast and has it's own unique pace that really works for this type of song.

Let's here the dirt. Did you use just the fx1 or did you have an adapter as well?
Camera Setting?
Lighting?
FX work? (tv lines..after effects?)

Great job. This goes to show people that if you put effort into something it can kick ass.

If you guys want to just comment on the editing that be cool. I made my own flares... and did some coloring.. crush the blacks heavily. Basically all those effects you see was suppose to take your mind away from the fact they are in a garage.

I went out and shot some extra stuff with the dvx though but I'll make a post there.. thanks guys.

Great job man. Your cutting definitely keeps the video interesting which is good since it's pretty much just the band playing. I like the color grading on the exterior shots as well. It looks very cinematic.

I think the scan lines are overused though. The effect would probably be better if it came in and out every so often, but through the whole thing it gets a little distracting after a while.

What's the name of the band?

The band is called vaeda. It's http://www.myspace.com/vaeda/
They're pretty good I think, and they loved the video so if they are happy, im happy. For deinterlacing.. in vegas I turned off resampling and added pulldown removal, and made the timeline progressive. It looks good on tv.

That video has a really cool look to it as far as the color and flares etc. What kind of cc did you do to it, and what did you mean by "crush" the blacks? I have an FX1 and am about to start shooting a video for a metal band. Any kind of help would be great, with this video being my first music video and all...thanks

Nice work, it was fast, without any stupid digital effect, think is one of the best videoclips I've seen on dvxuser ;)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH heres a new link.

Theres a quicktime and windows media.. and short clip of some extra stuff I shot with the dvx. They are in much better quality.

Endless, crushing the blacks is bringing up the brightness and contrast. For cc, I used the color and adjust to what I think looks good. Gl with your video!

Thanks Hiro. Now just to be clear, was the pull downremoval added to the cineframe 24 footage or 60i footage?

Wow for just footage of a band in a garage your a damn good editor. No wonder they're extremely happy with it.

Thanks so much for the info. I was testing some old footage to see if I could achieve some kinda of cool look. Basically I desaturate a little, then adjust the color balance then the brightness/contrast. Any other ideas? Also, I am thinking about renting some construction lights with the generators that are part of the ligh setup. How do you think that would work? I'm just used to using normal lights like Lowels, Kino Flows, things like that. Again thank you guys for being such a great help.

Great video Hiro! Nice editing. I liked the TV look -- although it's a little heavy; I kind of wanted to see some "untampered" footage after all that. But it was still a cool effect.

Just wondering; what did you mean when you said the cineframe 24 mode looked horrible? The video footage is heavilly edited, so to me, it looks very film-like in it's motion -- was the original source footage very video-ish or something?

Oh, and did the production crew use a DOF adapter?

Good work man.

Good work man.

That's a solid piece of work Hiro.

Especially when you consider the footage you were given.
