This is a music video for a "fake" band we shot for a comedy show we have here in Costa Rica. It is a "high school musical" type parody and a parody of famous boy-girl bands that are famous in latin america as Timbiriche or RBD.

We usually shoot the show with a Sony XDCAM HD 330 and a XDCAM EX1 but I wanted to give this video a different more "filmlike" look. Everyone was amazed with the image the GH1 produced, specially when using the Canon FD 50 mm f/1.4 with it's wonderful shallow depth of field.

Most of the video was shot using the Canon FD 50mm f1.4, some using a Canon FD 28mm f2.8, the choreography in the hallway was shot with the stock lens. The crane shots in the basketball court were shot withe the XDCAM HD as we needed monitoring and remote controlling the camera.

Hope you like it:

Pretty cool stuff! Are you guys a production company, a school, what? We don't see a lot of the equipment you mention in Panama, and I may have the only GH1...

Hello. Thanks for the good comments!
Kellar42: We do a comedy sketch show called "El Show de La 1/2 Docena", search youtube for media docena and you will find lots of stuff. It runs every friday at 9 p.m. on Costa Rica's main tv network called Teletica Canal 7. I write, act, sometimes direct, and sometimes edit.
We usually use the networks equipment (they mostly use Sony XDCams and they own the crane, the dolly, the lighting and other stuff we used for the video). I own the GH1 with the Canon FD adapter, and several FD lenses. I suggested using the GH1 to give this particular video a different look, everyone loved it! This camera is amazing, specially when you consider it's size and prize!

Looks great, so crisp. Great shots too..

Question:
The shot where the people 'fall' away from the camera one by one, how did you manage to keep each one in focus?

Also, what type of lens adapter did you use in order to use the Canon FD 50mm f1.4, because I have the Nikon 50mm f1.8?

Everything was shot at 1080 24p except for the shot where the camera follows the girl through the class that was shot at 720 60p for slomo.

The shot Lake Film mentions was shot with the kit lens with autofocus with face recognition turned on. Was shot slower to let the camera focus and then sped up in post.
