Music Video Shot on HVX

Awesome fun. Great video! If it weren't for those cute girls, video wouldn't be the same. Eesh.. think of that same video with guys in there.

Cool band too... tap dancing?! works great:huh:

Yeah how cool is that band.
Nicely shot and edited.

My only crit is maybe we are in silence too long looking at cool images before there is music.

I think we need the shot of the shoes, but the lights shot chould be shorter and we could hear the music before the countdown there, or maybe loose the lights shot and just go from the shoes to the countdown.

The openning is beautiful and I know no one will want to loose the lights shot, but it just seemed weird for a music video to not have music for that long.

Nice job, and nice to see a "just the band playing" video.

I think we are coming back to simple low tech ideas in music videos, which takes more creativity. I think since they got so technical and slick that technical and slick is old now.

You might address JDS's point above by adding voices saying something about the song or about getting ready to play (tune-up notes, or some a capella practice tap routine, since it's key in the music) so it's not just dead silent. With the band so exuberant--what about their audience? Perhaps some shots from the rear of the audience? Seems like they'd be energized by the music (too late now, perhaps, for this location). The five-way shot was nicely done and edited. The shots are very colorful, and I could have wished for some higher angle shots -- my neck was sympathizing with your cam ops craning up all the time.

Please share something about the techniques you used for synching -- was it all manual match-up with the track, or did you have timecode or what?

Very nice work!

thanks for all the comments everyone! We ended up having to synch manually...we captured sound in camera and then synched that with the music file.

the band is really cool, they were on the Letterman show a couple of months ago...up and coming.

this venue is in Salt Lake City, great place to shoot performance videos.

Anyways, it was my first shoot with the HVX and I was pretty pleased with the results. I am doing a commercial soon with the HVX and the M2 adapter, maybe I can post it...I will also be testing the camera to see what we can do with undercranking and overcranking...I will try and post the results!

thanks.
