>>>UPDATE<<<

I posted this a while back. Just got the final mix of the song and made a few changes to the edit. Tell me if this new intro works...

Uncrowned - Remember Your Ghost - 18MB

>>>UPDATE<<<

I shot my very first video ever for these guys about a year and a half ago on the dvx. I have done quite a few since so I decided to do another one for them. I still shoot a lot on my trusty dvx but for this i rented the hvx. These guys are called Uncrowned and they just got an 8 page article in SPIN. It's the one on shelves now with Marilyn Manson on the cover. This is the first cut so I'm looking for ideas/improvements. Fire away!!!

Uncrowned - Remember Your Ghost

320x180 - 30mb

480x270 - 50mb

Things I liked: selectively desaturated colors, good audio sync, appropriate effects

Things I disliked: the reflections in the glass. There are even times when you can see the camera and operator. Where these guys playing behind a glass wall, or was that an inexpensive, uncoated filter?

Neither. Those are flares from the windows behind the band. It wasnt planned but because they looked so ghostlike and the song is called remember your ghost, we decided to shoot with the flares. Personally I dig them and so does the band. I know what you mean though. Most of the time I hate flares. I don't think you saw camera and operator in the flare. No possible way. Mustve been a band member.

But what do they reflect in -- the lens on the M2, or something else? It is pretty rare to get reflection in situations like that.

yeah pretty weird. the flares are in the slr lens on the front of the m2. they are decent lenses. canon fd s.s.c. 28mm, 50mm and 135mm.

Dude. The video looks great. This is the best music video I've seen with the this set up. The lens flares were awesome.

The only thing I would have liked to see is a couple different locations. It did start to get somewhat monotonous. But it was still great.

i have some other b-roll storyline stuff which i will be adding in. i will post the final when it's all done. any other ideas or suggestions storyline wise???

thanks!!!

I also thought the editing was very good. It felt a little excessive towards the middle with the splice cuts but seemed to level off in the end. Did you edit this yourself?

I also didn't mind the reflections off the lens. For your video it works.

My favorite shot was the one with the hanging lightbulb. To me, that shot was the most visually pleasing.

Kudos on the vid.

Tight. The band, the cuts, everything. That's all I have to say.

Well - that and I liked the flares. I find it interesting that they can bug some people out so much. I think they really work here.

I'll be curious to see the final cut as this was definitely getting there. Need to find out what the hell that Atari 2600 joystick has to do with a bloody shotgun(?). Not everyday that you dial that into props: "Yeah - you heard me... We need an Atari 2600 joystick". Sad that I know that actually.

Keep up the great work {as always}!

It looked good but it lacks originality and concept. Every music video shows a band just playing in some big white room with windows.
