I used DVX100ae 25p for PAL. Mainly natural light.
Shots with lights I used 3, 650W arri's and 1, 650W arri.

I enjoyed the video and thought your focusing and blurring effects were pretty cool and added to the feel of it. The lead singer looked like he had some a bunch of make up on! I also liked the semi-story line following along with the band playing. It made it more interesting then simply watching a band play their song. Good job!

Finally!!! a music video with good song. I was beginng to think death metal and country vids were taking over. The visuals are awesome too.lighting was spot on.

It looks very pro. Are you gonna submit it to any music channels?

Good job.

Thanks a lot.. the singer didn't wear any make up but i'll let him know! haha I know what you mean.

Lip sync is always a weird one, I tried the best I could but we played the song over so many times and some of the takes the band just sang slightly different. I'll defo try to work on that for future.

We may submit to Scuzz over here.. new skids on the block i here will air anything for £200. Pretty lame but I'm sure it would be worth it for the band.

The idea for the story is meant to be in reverse order so the arguing scene is the last scene before that Mike is arriving home to his girl friend lindsey, who before that was on the phone with her friend sarah because she's upset about being pregnant and because mike is always sleeping out, then the last scene int he vid is the first scene in reality and mike is hugging Sarah after spending the night with her. Which really didn't come out like that, but I need to put more thought into the story sequencing in future.

Thanks.. anyone else any more constuctive comments or want to rip it to shreds?
I would appreciate any feedback.

:)

Hey I've worked as an assistant producer in the music video industry here in Toronto for 7 years and I'm impressed. Great job!

Just a note to others making videos..look at what you can potentially do here. I see a lot of videos that look like they're done by 12 year olds. It's a craft on it's own and well worth learning..ask about lighting..cuts..cgi...whatever. Put some effort into it like this and you'll see what great results can be achieved.

Beno are you signed? If not you should be bringing this in and shopping yourself around..you have a lot of talent.

I would agree with others and say this video was really well put together. the only thing I would say is to try to balance out the story with the band playing. It felt like I saw more band and occasional story.. but with such quick cuts you quickly forget the story.
Everything looked really good though. I like the part where you see the drums from the side and when he hits it it blurs for a second twice. Looking good

Thanks, I'm totally eger to do more story and less band. Trying to think of other cool visuals is something I'm thinking more about.

I wonder if most people story board all that out or just improvise on the day.

Here's another vid http://www.s130139358.websitehome.co.uk/Media/Dreaming.mov

This one is all performance but I was trying to get cool lens flares to make for interesting visuals.

really good camera moves in there. I see that you have a definite style in both of these pieces. the out of focus keeps coming back. It was good stuff.

Usually there isn't much story boarding. Most music video directors I've met are..well hacks. They usually tend to rely on their DPS to pull off some magic and then the editor to make a story of it. The best directors will do a story board..but they don't stay in music videos too long and are good enough to move on. Hey I think there is a filter Tiffen makes to bring out that "star effect" on your lights..can't remember what it is..doh. If you use After Effects you can do it in post with Knoll sold by redgiant software. Peace out.
