Music video "PROPHECY" - final edit :-)

Re: Music video "PROPHECY" - need your e

The song is breaking down walls, but yet you keep them locked up in their rehearsal room (even if it is in a freaky old run-down asylum). I think you at least need to get the singers performing in an alternate location that you can inter-cut to. I like the swinging naked bulb over the bridge section. The music is raw and powerful, it's just that the chorus is a lttle too derivative of Eminem's Eight Mile theme song, which is too bad because this song's hook is a little stronger, but I still hear Eminem. (Am I the only one on this?) Bottom line, you've got a great start here and with a little more effort I think you can take it to the next level. I think it would be worth going the extra mile.

Off the hook bro. Keep up the good work.

Awesome, I totally felt this video. Although, yes, it would be cool to have a story line, I thought the rough sound of the music totally went with the performance in the video. Visually it was entertaining - fun to watch and fun to listen to. Keep up the work man.

This is an A in my book. I typically hate this genre of music, but your edits, your shutter speed, and the sheer energy of the band demanded and held my attention.

I don't think you need to tell a story. Check the composition of the singers, the band; that's your story!

I suppose you could play a few more visual effects tricks on us, but I don't think it is necessary. This is better than most of the fare I see on MTV anyway. The fact that most of the forum regulars here are nick-picking, is a Good Thing.

What's next?

Cool .. thanks a lot guys.  I really really appreciate the feedback.

I'm still brainstorming ideas for the bridge section (slower part) and also playing with the idea of adding brief and sporadic contrasting scenes to it (blown out b&w w/slow pull back from a baby on old news papers in a grungy empty apartment room; group of urban teenage kids running high-speed through slum city streets; crazy man prophecying on subway car; etc.)

I just get nervous that I might cross the "dude that was cheesey" line :-)

Looks great man...couple of the non-performance shots felt repetitive but not a big deal.  Really good job and damn I love this song!  Any place I can download an mp3?

Edit:  Oops...looks like you lost some letterbox at 3:26 and 3:39, fyi.

Well spank me twice and call me Mary!

I'll fix those rogue frames tonight -- thanks Ex ii I really appreciate it ... good eye!

Milver:  close -- I shot the performance stuff in an old building in Harlem.  It was a really cool location that I was lucky to get ... even luckier to get electric power!

Tight promo. Great track.
I disagree with the idea that you have to tell a story in a “good” music video. First and foremost you should be thinking about the promotion the group. Im not saying that you shouldn’t ‘ tell a story’ but the promotion of the artist should come first.

Music videos/promos = image films... not movies.
if you don't mind... what was your budget?

Sweet job.

Yeah, you can check these guys out at www.onedayleft.com

They've recently signed with a major label (a label that sounds like an ocean) and are currently working on their first full-length cd.

Rock.

Cool, thanks for the link Toaster. I'm not surprised they've been signed already. Congrats on doing their video, hopefully they'll keep you around for MTV. :)
