*look out for the next video* M2 is gonna get broken in

i don't like the jump cuts. intention: artistic. effect: cheap. They don't look right. Get rid of them. Video quality looks good though. All shots have that professional glaze. no cheap video-ish feel anywhere. good.

the artists

the rappers are freaking GOOD. Good rhymes. Tight flow. But the beat's a little generic. And the chorus straight up sucks (not to mention clunky). These guys need some real beats and they could really shine.

overall, good job.

Thanks Loo.
C.G. is there a specific part that bugs you, I understand what you mean a little. I'm glad the VX footage didn't come off too video-ish. Also glad you like the rappers.

This has almost nothing to do with the video-production wise but I thought you guys might find this thread pretty entertaining. Seriously read through if you have some time.

It's pretty intense, chill it out.

I tell you what, I've been a hip hop producer for 10 years. I've produced with Wu Tang, Wycleff and his brother Farell, Tone, Poke & Rich Nice from track Masters and a bunch more and I know good stuff when I hear it. These kids got something going for themselves. I'd like to hear more of their work. It's good to hear something good coming out of Boston. My opinion only is the last hot sh!t to drop out of Boston was Gangstarr...... Yes, they're straight outta Boston. ; )

Video wise, it was hot but too much of the same throughout the video. Would be nice to have another location in the video to mix it up more.

Overall, good job imo.

the artists are def. good. only reco. I would have is what coffee said and add another location to the vid, but overall great job!

I'm really glad you guys like the musc, they'll love to hear that.

bdt09 and coffee: I realized very quickely when editing this that it would have benefitted from another location or theme. However, without making too many excuses, it was not in the schedule or budget.

Thanks for the response though.

Coffee: There are some really talented kids coming out of the Boston scene lately. Hopefully I can team up with them and grow with them.

I know this is kinda of Boston tootin its own horn.

*I know there are other forums for music video only posts but I think it would nice to give music videos there own section, IMHO. I also realize this is called dvxuser.com, so its more about the camera, just wishing.

esco,

i'm still not sure if these jump cuts are intentional or a result of my computer trying to keep up with the quicktime. But more specifically, they're the "jump stills" where we're on a rapper, and then a little triple cut of that rapper in freeze frames occurs. If that's intentional, those are the parts i think should come out. If it's quicktime, well, then don't worry about it.

some more good boston hiphop : ed og, krumbsnatcha, reks, edan, kreators & lots more :D

I agree with Coffee, they do have something and it is ashame that there are not many artist like that in the mainstream. The only guys out of boston that I am hip to is GangStarr and Ed O.G. I would love to meet all them catz and do some video work for them straight up.

The video was cool, I like the concept and didnt realize that was an actual store until I read the information about the video. Did you do any set design like put those albums on the ceiling or is that part of the store's look? Also I didnt care for those jump cuts either. I think what you were going for was a motion control type move where you see 2 of you in the same shot? Also, I would have used some DUVA TEEN (not sure on spelling) to cover some of those windows. That sunlight in some of the shots was ruining the scene. Duvateen works to block unwanted light from coming into windows and works like a charm! Other than that, I was impressed!

Again thanks for the feedback all.

Its pretty obvious from people's responses that the "jump cuts" are no good. Unfortunatly this is the final cut of the video and its being distributed as is. Good to know for next time.

The location, Massive Records, was shot as is and very little was changed. Only moving some furniture around and adding some additional open face lights. In some of the shots the broken kinos are flickering pretty badly.

Is "Duvateen" like ND gel for the windows? If we had the time to make adjustments for everyshot that would definitly have helped out.

Peace.
