Music Video made with After Effects

I agree. While the music isn't my style, I can still say that I thought it was well made. Here are my thoughts, though:

Don't rely on so many effects. I know you like the look of it and all, but Twitch shouldn't be a 4 minute effect.

It was odd to me how everyone was moving the exact same way in a couple of shots. I know that's because they were moving to the music, but it looked very choreographed. This isn't a choreographed type of sound.

I didn't understand the girl coming in around 1:35, then not seeing her again. Put her in some story, or cut her out.

and lastly, the tags "ninja porn teen sex" were in there. I saw none of those ... fortunately.

It's pretty boring, I stopped after a minute and a half, it just kept repeating itself with the same camera angles. Some of the keying looked pretty rough as well as matching the perspective/camera.

EDIT: Just watched it mostly to the end...for a performance music video you need to get a lot of coverage, different angles, some close-ups, etc. There was nothing tighter than a medium, and it just left me really bored.

You need to get creative with your shots for sure. Movement is nice, some dolly shots make you look professional even if you're just beginning to experiment with composition. Dolly the $hit out of it and shoot in an actual location, it's way easier to be creative with how you shoot it that way. Handheld is good too if you don't have a suitable stabilizer for the size camera you have, the smaller the camera the easier a DIY stabilizer solution is. Anything can be overdone (even dollies I suppose) but a static shot is a dead shot. Once you have a variety of footage shot at your location(s) you can push your creativity in post to the next level.

I have to agree with one of the comments on youtube:

"easily as good as anything of its ilk"

IOW, looking at the numerous piles of manure in the pasture this pile is as good as any of them. That's a fair assessment.

Overall I think it was an excellent attempt. As previously noted, it falls a little short in some areas.

1. It's a performance piece that has an incomplete story line. The girl I assume was part of the story in some way, but we'll never know. She needed to start the video and end the video. Her story needs to be told and intertwined with the bands performance.

2. The TV set although well done, really didn't fit the rest of the video. You should have filmed a real TV set as part of the bands set. It could have been a very clever way of cutting to the girls story while the band was performing.

3. As noted you need more shot variety and camera movement. The song should have been performed as many times as the band is willing with different focal lengths and camera movements. I would have asked for a minimum of takes equaling the number of members in the band for medium and close ups of each performer and instuments, in addition to some wide, dolly and overhead shots etc.

4. The whole video twittering is a distraction and should have been used as an accent to some parts. Not to the whole video.

This video is good. With some additions and tweaking, it could become a GREAT video. Overall nice attempt, I know how much work you put into it. Best of luck to you!

If it's shot on greenscreen, why don't you at least vary the background if you can't vary the shots in footage? It almost feels like a loop as everything keeps repeating again and again, quite fatiguing. I'm sure you can do better!

too much of the Videocopilot Twitch esp the rgb bleed

bg photo is too static even with multiple angles, you could process that as a 3d projection onto the inside of a 5 sided box and at least get some movement in there

camera movement feels like wiggle(), you should tie the wiggle amount to a slider and then randomize the slider amount, or animate the wiggle parameters

the TV overlay thing looks a little too AE motion graphics since its a photo.

more close-ups there was too many shots where the people filled a small% of the screen, skinny jeans, and keying also makes their profiles very small/thin.

Don't crush your blacks as much, you want it to be deep but you want some detail in there even if you have to composite another layer in just for black details.

I liked it... would you be able to elaborate on your workflow.. it is interesting to hear how you composted it...

not a huge fan.
Its over graded with color, also looks like you utilized the "Twitch" plugin from creative cow for the entire thing as well as sampling another andrew kramer project which shows the "16mm film look"
the part that did interest me was the "my name is apollo' - that stood out and was decent.

The blacks are entirely crushed and the shots dont go with the music.

sorry to be picky im not trying to rip it apart, but perhaps next time I may suggest relying less on after effects to provide the "finishing" touches.

Song- was energetic and good.
