music video leek

Colin! Been a while since i've seen anything from DI.

Looks great, as always. Very pro. How'd you do all the film burn effects? Also, how do you like the HVX? anything you can share about you're experience?

BTW: Is the "reel" page ever going to be back up on your site?

haha, it will be up (the reel page that is) as well as my own personal site - the web guy isnt the web guy anymore and my experience in html is shameful. I do like the hvx alot, its sad having to down convert the full res stuff to sd for broadcast though. the film burns are screened in from stock. slo mo on the hvx seems to make ppl drool uncontrollably as well which is a plus!

Colin

thanks for the info. I live just south of san francisco, but would love to help out on a shoot if it ever works out. Let me know whatever you're next project is.

I find it funny that so many digital videos attempt to recreate the look of 16mm, what with flash frames, gate weave, etc. That's not a criticism, cause I do it as well (one of the best compliments I've had is when an established commercial director saw one of my heavily doctored miniDV videos and asked if it was Super 8), just an observation that I'm sure has been made a thousand times.

Anyway, nice video. Well shot and cut.

Colin!!!!! friggin genius. great work... what 35mm lenses did you use? great use of the 60P did you shoot it in 720P?

ha! you out chris sim-ed chris sims

this one is fuse/mtv ready made

I'm not a fan of the music or the style of these vids (re: every emo video you've ever seen) BUT I do see that you have talent..... nice compositions, nice editing, good work man

Hi, this is my first post :) here!
The video is just great, actually best of music videos in this forum (for me). I liked camera movements. Can you tell a little bit about workflow
Thank you!

what would you like to know about my workflow? post? ... well it was cut on fcp on a quad 2.8gz system w/ 4mb ram. i like p2 because there is no capturing involved...and yeah im not sure what you want to know about the workflow.

so how much did they pay ya?

They paid him, I AM sure less they he deserved. Made him do to many shots that were budgeted for and not scripted and storyboarded:)

In all seriousness. This video is an insiration to me. It says music videos are hard work, and that I need to become a PA on a couple before I can try one myself :)

Super Fantastic Job!

At 3:20, the lead singer has two salivia spots on both sides of his mouth. My first reaction was.. that dude is foaming out the mouth!!!

solid work
