I'm furious!
I told them how I'm going to shoot it. I discussed mak up and wardrobe. Everything was approved by the management. They gave my creative freedom but I checked with them anyway.
Now, after it's finished, they say it doesn't fit with the image of the artist.
And they don't want to use it and told me not to use it either.
That's against the agreement.

About the production:
It was a zero budget (-$200 Dollars to be exact), shot on the T2i with a Canon 35-75mm 2.8 L-glass zoom.
Postproduction in FCP and color correction in Magic Bullet Looks.

did you have contract with them?

video was fine. i skipped through it in sections, but it seems to be what i'd expect from videos of that musical genre.

well shot. I might have gone with a dolly vs handheld look but it fits nonetheless.

They can't stop you using the footage on your reel. If you had a release from her you could use it elsewhere as you please.

I had a contract printed out and gave it to them, but then forgot to make them sign it before the shoot. Also, it was a friend of a friend, so I didn't think this would happen.
But my lawyer told me verbal agreements are binding. That means I can use it on my reel, yes.

We brought a steady cam but we didn't use it since we were under immense time pressure. I used 'smooth cam' a lot in post. Ideally I would have loved to have a dolly/jib combo.

That "Artist" needs to worry more about what image her sh*tty song writing, and lack of persona gives. I think you did great with what you were given. F**k 'em, us it on you reel for sure.

Video looks beautiful to me. Quite like the song too... however, the artists persona seems stale on screen; nothing you can do about that.
