Music Video Grabs

Look ma no hands
I know. There really aren't enough music videos around here, so I figured I'd pollute the site with more crap.

I've never done a music video before, so I don't really know what I'm doing here. Check it:

very VERY VERY NICE !!!! nice CC also.... I would really like to see the video.

//please give some more spec's. about the production.

Looks good. Real good. But the first and last definitely have better contrast. You can even see the change in brightness on the black bars (letterbox). Adjust the other frames and you've got a nice looking video. Lets here the song!

Thanks, guys! It was a quick 2-hour shoot that was kinda thrown together at the last minute. I didn't know where we were shooting, and if I had it to do over, I would've brought more lighting with me (hence the lack of contrast in some of the shots). We were originally supposed to shoot in a much smaller area, so I only had a 650w and a 200w open faced.

I should have a cut up by this weekend.

Great looking grabs! Like previously stated the contrast is the only thing visible that I can say could be tweaked, but besides that the grabs show that you have good framing and eye for shots. Hope to see the video soon! Great work!

Nice looking grabs there. The color correction adds a lot.

I think what PK and citycyclone were trying to say with the contrast problem doesn't have to do with your lighting so much as actually turning up the contrast in post. Maybe it doesn't look that way in the video and it's only a problem in the screen shots, but if you look carefully at them, the first one and the last one literally have more contrast in the pictures themselves, even in the black bars on the top and bottom. That's kind of odd, so maybe it's a problem with just the grabs and not the video.

Anyway, can't wait to see a clip. Peace.

Nice grabs Horsefilm! Can you post a small clip? Tell us what you did for CC (magic bullet?). Very nice!

sry but I have to be honest. The stills look way to video to me and the cc did not help it at all. The exposure was not consistent between the shots..some look washed out.. There is much more you can do during CC to hide certain imperfections. Blue tint won't make the cut for me. Btw I'm not trying to bash your work. the shot angles might work and camera work as well which I cannot judge from stills. my two cents.

These stills are straight out of the camera with the exception of Magic Bullet applied so that the band could decide what kind of a look they wanted. I'm working on the edit right now and I'll have it up this weekend.

There are going to be some inconsistancies from shot to shot because this is essentially a live performance (though they played the song several times). We'll see what happens when it's done.

I can't wait to see the final edit Horse. Check those Levels (as P.K. mentions the letterbox; remember black is black)

Hurry up!

I'll try to have something up tomorrow night before I go to Land of the Dead.

Thanks for the advice and encouragment. It's much appreciated!

Horse - what theater you going to? I'm probably gonna go tommorow or saturday with some of my man and lady friends...

I'm gonna go down here in Kato (it's playing right by MSU).

The band is Diskord and they play pretty often http://www.thebanddiskord.com

I just did it 'cause they're friends of mine.
