Music video 720pn overcranked

This is similar to a music video but is designed for churches. Rather than promoting the artist it tells a story. I shot it at 720pn overcranked to 30fps.
Some clips were slowed down further in post. A couple were shot at 48fps,
such as the little girl tossing the ball.

This is a rough edit, so suggestions, comments and editing tips are welcome.

note: this was shot two different days & locations, both times it started raining & the HVX got damp. I protected it the best I could but there was no way I could ask all my volunteer actors to re shoot! Seems to be fairly waterproof

In case anyone is interested in the export settings (small file size/reasonably good quality) :

Exported from FCP to a QT file using same settings as edited at, DVCproHD720p. Video is 5 minutes.

Imported into Quicktime and exported at 960 x 480, H264, keyframes 72, restrict to 800mps, audio AAC 32khz at 96kbs, fast start.

Liked it... but the whole area / neighborhood did not look like it would have any bums in it! to clean! but very nice job.

Ahhh, the curse of living in a nice area ! We had a blast shooting this. Most of the volunteer actors including the 3 "homeless" are from our church. The middle one originally had a large "Deacon" nametag on but we made him take it off. They really got into character and arrived with appropriate makeup and facial growth.

A lot of the walking footage was shot in downtown Franklin TN which is old but well kept. We selected a back alley for the opening scene because there was at least SOME garbage, etc, but most of that didn't make it into the edit.

The last half was shot next to the church. Obviously it was way too clean but
fortunately a maintenance guy came out with a cartload of garbage and we spread it around the bums. I think the middle guy deserves an Oscar for
a convincing mentally unbalanced performance.

I'm a strong believer that if you're not going for a vintage look it should either be normally saturated or b&w. The undersaturation in this doesn't make much sense to me... and normal saturation wouldn't either. So, I think in this b&w would work way better.

Interesting, we originally planned on B&W but changed to desaturated-

Here is a B&W version:

I dont really know but back to my point, If there was trash in that corner between the fence and the sidewalk it would have made the scene more beleivable. Thanks for the responce main st, I wasnt being harsh just constuctive! In this case I would say B&W. Once again I think its cause the brick and the fence look to new!

First off great video! loved it! I saw both versions you posted, and the B+W definately pops out to you...I like it much better. Color was still good, but for some reason the B+W looks sharper and better in my opinion.

It was blocked due to "Data Transfer Restrictions" - in other words,
exceeded my bandwidth at good ol' Dot Mac. Should go back up at some point - but will try to post to other webspace and share the link.
