Hallo friends!
Well some here may know me, same may not. "Doesn't really matter, I'm not worth knowing) but in the spirit of, "Hey thanks for showing me yours, now heres mine!" I give you some new stills..

Last night we shot the "performance" aspect of the debut video for Ten Missing Days and their track "Safe Following Distance". (wanna learn more about the band and hear the track?? Go to http://profile.myspace.com/index.cf...ofile&friendID=1800198&Mytoken=20050629111021 )

Shot the majority durin gthe day but did a night shoot for a certain aspect of the song from which the stills come. We still have a "story" portion to shoot, but I am cutting the performance now. Full video should be out in August. Bear in mind these are "raw as they get" stills, no CC yet. In the meantime enjoy and destroy.

Part Duex:
Ok so I said there were more to come, and here they be... the majority of the video looks like these, shot during the day. As to a clip not sure when that will be. While a rough cut of the performance is almost complete there is still the story to shoot, as well as the afore mentioned color correction which I hope will be done by a studio I am associated with who has a Davinci ;)

In the mean time though, enjoy...

R Michael..

The shots, location, band, and lighting looks cool. BUT the grain is high. Did you use gain?

How do you only have 40 posts but you've got seniority over me. I don't know whether to be embarrassed for your lack of posts or embarrassed with myself for over-postation :)

No, no gain. It was very late at this point and I wanted to hit several key set ups quickly, plus we had almost two hours worth of breackdown ahead of us (between gear and getting the location back how we found it) setting were 24p, cinnea gamma, warmed up a few bits in cam, and shutter 1/250. Between the extreme light differences and the shutter it didnt help grain wise, but there is also a TON of dust around them that we created by kicking up dirt on set. Got into EVERYTHING, but looked great with the backlight. The grain is cool though, because I wanted a rougher look for this portion and Im gonna crush the blacks and do some CC. Thanks for the comments!

P.S.
Also these are lower res grabs, added some in the rip.

Not enough light was sort of the idea, gonna crush the blacks so you can hardly make out the band, just their outlines. The grbs i'll post later are the full light.

The dust, that's the grain I'm seeing. Ahhhh... Should look real cool after some color correcting. Good luck! Hope to see a clip soon.

Thanks John, and everyone for your comments. Yeah the low res rip deff. added some grain, but its there in the dark footage as well. Its funny because pausing a still image doesnt look that great, but in motion it looks good. I will still cutt back some of that but overall it is what I was going for.

Looks good! What kind of lights are you using in the background? The stills remind me of that linkin park video with that lighting. Also, how did you manage to get that shape of lens flare from the lights? Is it the aperture just really closed down or is it a filter you used?

Hey thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. As to lighting just good ole fashioned Home Depot work lamps. $30 a pop. They are 1000w and register white on video so they can come in handy. I have always been ah fan of strong backlighting (especially when shooting video) and of having the lights sometimes in the shot.

For the day stuff, that building has one side exposed to the outdoors, so the sunlight acted as a side fill with the worklights my back lighting. For the night stuff a street light was pouring in (not the look I originally wanted, but it turned out ok) and the same backlights. I did warm up the shot to get that orange look.

As to the strwaking I just had the aperture closed down and shutter off for most (othertimes the shutter was at 1/250 for the running and some performance). You get 1000w coming at you and you get some streaking on your own but there are streaking filters you can buy and/or rent that create incredible effects. (For a good example check out the "Hypnogia" video in this thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V3/showthread.php?t=33066 )

Also if you ahvent seen the video these ar from yet go to this thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V3/showthread.php?t=33355 I can also IM you a slightly higher res version (51mb) if you have AIM or yahoo Messenger.

Hope that helps.
