I decided to film my own music video/film to my bands new song. The entire process of writing recording, mixing, mastering the music was a DIY effort (I do work in audio professionally) so I thought I may as well keep going
Im no pro at video like many people here but thought it worth sharing as the cheaper a7ii does not seem to have been used very much.
i used a canon fd 24mm and 50mm only, with a 1/8 (mild) Tiffen black pro mist.
This is mostly my stills camera, and I will buy something else for video soon.. However rather use what I have
than not shoot at all !
I used the vintage lenses with diffusion to help reduce some of the pretty bad moire this cam gets, and for a more 'filmic look'
The black and white dance section was filmed in the UK on a bmpcc and the main bulk (the colour parts) on the a7ii hand held in Astana Kazakhstan. It was -25 out so got all the shots in 1 take ! The camera had no problem with the cold too !
The built in ibis was great to have in this case. Plus this model seems pretty good with rolling shutter compared to the a7sii and a7rii
used profile cine 4 and made adjustments to the colour with filmconvert.
