Music vid - Poetic Tightfist

hi kevin-

woooo. I need a swig after that one.

overall great job. immediately after my first viewing, i felt like the three segments felt disjointed, like three different songs. not important, i get it anyways.

i think I would have liked to have seen the first shot a little longer, to establish where they were, maybe with something very still or serene, as a contrast to the upcoming scenes..i think the brevity of the first shot is why I had a hard time connecting the beginning and end location at first.

I liked the snow-fire contrast. worked really well for this song.

i liked the composition on the guitar strumming shots

how do you get the flickering, jittering look? was that all in camera or in post, also?

good on the hard beats leading into the fire scene. breathtaking, the editing that follows that was very stylish and effective, loved it.

i wanted to see the band members do something else besides sing and be basically in one spot though. maybe move somewhere or run stomp off somewhere. ( now you are are thinking, I'm lame, but anyways--this is the reason why I don't often do these critiques, but for Toaster on a saturday night, ok. )

the transition out of the fire scene was great.

well now, how am I suppose to go back to editing a wedding tonight?

congrats..looking good.

Hey Pooh! Long time no talk :-)

Thanks for the suggestion .. take a look at the new intro ...

I totally agree. It needed stronger establishing opening shot(s). I'll tweak it a bit further, but i I think this does the trick.

My insecurities are kicking in, again (did they ever leave *gasp*)

... any other comments? I'm sending it to the band tomorrow to look at for the first time...

Positives: I was diggin' the earthquake effect, LOVED the close-ups, second half of the video (the break down) was smokin'...I would have liked to seen more of this effect throughout the entire video. Maybe you could of shown hints of this effect early on to give the viewers a taste of what was to come. Editing was on point...nice chops...keep it up!!!

Negatives: lighting was flat inside, location was a bit boring...I would have liked to seen 2-3 locations during the first half of the song.

overall...nice video!
