GH2 Music Film Shot on GH1 and GH2

Hello Everyone, I just released a music film (music video with a story haha) that I shot with one other person on a Panasonic GH1 and Panasonic GH2. There was no budget other than our fee and we were able to shoot it all in 2 days. I like my crews small as it keeps us active and productive throughout the entire shoot. The artist is Maurice Ager who used to play for the NBA and is now pursuing his passion in music. With such a powerful message in his transition alone I decided to write a script that showcases just that.

Let me know what you guys think!?

P.S. I have been a GH shooter for quite sometime and have yet to run into another GH shooter in person. Just about everything on my youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/viewbility) was shot on a GH2/GH1 I love these cameras and I can't wait to see more content from this community!

Really couldn't tell where you used the gh1 and where you used the gh2.

I'm planning the same set-up. Can you walk me through it?

Sorry for the delayed response. I too was trying to figure out which ones were which! I am going through my footage right now and I even went out of my way to rename each memory card "GH1" and "GH2", but missed about 80 clips as I forgot to continue the process... Anyways I'm going through the ones that I did label and am shocked at the shots I thought for sure were the GH2 and actually turned out to be my GH1!!!

Shot in the beginning with Moe against the wall is GH1
All my Slow-mo shots are GH2
All Glidecam shots are GH2
All the studio shots in the beginning are all GH2 besides the close up on the Jersey (GH1)
98% of the close up shots were the GH1
All the shots while Moe is eating Thai food are the GH1
The performance shot of Moe against the wall is GH1

Those are all the ones that I was able to for sure pinpoint as the footage was stored in the appropriate GH1 or GH2 folders. However, the 2nd day was the "mom" scene and all the performance shots so that's where I didn't import them in their appropriate folders... I know fail!!! But, if I had to say I believe most of the "Mom" scene is GH2. And the performance shots were all shot with both GH1 & GH2.

Honestly, the only difference I see when editing is the color reproduction. The GH1 doesn't handle the highlights very well, but I made sure each shot was properly exposed to the best of my ability so as long as you do that both cameras will cut well together and produce high quality images. It is clear when you start to mess with color correction in post is when you start to identify which, is which as the GH1 "if I am not mistaken" easily over saturates when altering the exposure. I am not a very good color grade/corrector and all I really do in post is correct the exposure. I try to shoot the look all in camera so that I can save myself some time in the editing room since I do all my productions on my own. I had help on this production as I had a ton of people to direct, shoot, dress set, light, and compose which can be a little ridiculous on your own haha.

I hope this helps, as I know that this forced me to answer my own questions on which was which!?

Thank you Fresno Bob! It's really hard to look at my footage and consider it in a league that we hope to reach one day so to hear comments like yours really makes me feel like I am heading in the right direction. Thank you again!

Ik now what you mean. You live with the footage for so long, you can't objectively see what it looks like after a while!
