Murderball =American Documentary Audience Award

Filmmakers Henry Alex Rubin and Dana Adam Shapiro have hit a big home run with their film Murderball, a film about Quadraplegic Wheelchair Rugby at Sundance. Filmed with the DVX100 over the course of 2 1/2 years, the film follows the course of the National teams from the US and Canada to the culmination of the 2004 Paralympics in Athens. The characters are real and in your face and frankly these young filmmakers did an outstanding job.

And they did it with the DVX. So once more a Sundance award is won with a DVX100. So what does that say? It is the talent behand the camera, the story line, the editing, that makes the film and the camera did not get in the way. Frankly I think the camera helped some as the cinema was beautiful and in some cases breathtaking and thrilling as it was mounted on the lap of a participant.

Anyhow, thought I would share the good news with you all!

Three rounds of applause for these young filmmakers! Way to go Henry and Dana!

Best,

Jan

I really wanted to see this one, but I couldn't get tickets. I saw a few of the shorts winners, and they were really good.

There was one SlamDance movie called Mad Hot Ballroom, and they shot that using 4 DVXs. It was really outstanding.

This is the kind of stuff the dvx100a was created for; a quality image and portability for run and gun footage. The subject matter is interesting, and docs are being perceived as a revenue source by distributors. Plus these guys made a good one. They are now $$$.
