multiple tracks

how do you get multiple track to be seen at the same time

im trying to make stills of every few frames to create a trail of the subject when moving

ive tried adjusting the opacity but over a few tracks its nearly invisible

ive played around with the composting modes but i dont know which ones in what combination i need for it to work

is there an easy way?

i don't understand what you want to achieve. If you just want a lot of stuff to be seen at the same time, just drag down the opacity of EACH clip. Read the Vegas Pro 8 PDF manual to see how to change the opacity.

imagine the camera is locked down on a scene with no movement then someone passes through the scene

im trying to make multiple copys of the person passing through so there is a few of the same person following each other if that makes any scene

i can do it with a mask but want to do it on several scenes so thought there must be a quicker way

Ok, the way I would do that is add 4-5 video tracks, add the SAME clip into them, but make them start a few milliseconds or 1 second apart. This way, the background stays pretty much the same, but there are multiple people of the same person passing by. Of course, you must be careful to not have any other moving parts on the screen and to not overlap the copies of the same person. Opacity must be set too to each clip as suggested above.

thanks that is what i have tried but the opacity has to be set so low to see all the tracks that the person is very transparent

is there a way to adjust the opacity on selective areas / colours, i would then be able to take some of the background away on the first few clips

i appreciate you taking the time to answer, ive found video forums very hard to get replys:violin:

thanks

Yup, I just tried the multiply tutorial I linked above, and I was able to achieve the requested effect, but it's a LOT of work, because you have to create a mask around your moving object for EVERY frame for the duration of the clip. For a 10 second clip, it's over an hour of work.

thanks that was helpful, originally i was masking acuratly around the person but found from that tutorial that if i just roughly mask and feather in/out it works a treat , still slow but alot quicker than the way i was doing it
