multiple shots in one frame

Could anyone point me in the right direction to achieving this look. Normally I resize each frame and it gets tedious. but I'm convinced there has to be an easier way. Is there a plugin out there for this?

normally I do everything manual... and I don't end up with this type of result... it would be super cool if it exist a plugin for these effects :)

Maybe create the bars in Illustrator and bring it in with an alpha channel. But that still requires a little resizing.

Yeah, the only way that I know how to do it is by sizing the frame and location in the motion tab across multiple video tracks. I don't know if there is a plug in for that. You can set up a favorites folder, in the effect tab and save the frame size/location for each track as separate entries. That way you could at least repeat the effect with different video tracks in the future. The trick is keeping up with the order the tracks/frame sizes and locations are.

Illustrator files won't import into FCP.

Take look at FXFactory and some of its partners.

I'm with Shane. There are no short cuts for creativity.

Too bad Michelangelo didn't have a plug in for the Sistine Chapel.

You could create the frames in photoshop or Illustrator (if you can even do this in illustrator, i don't know) and export it as a TIFF with transparencies. Then its less exacting in the motion tab. I personally find the motion tab fine. I can do that rather quickly, but the render times kill me.

How much footage are you working with? This framing and animation is a lot easier to accomplish in AE.

As for Final Cut, it is tedious, but I'll stick with doing it manually in the motion tab.

For a really complex split screen, I would rough it out in FCP and then send it to Motion, where it would be fairly quick to finish off.
