Multiple P2 cards how's that?

When the HPX fills one P2 card it automatically goes over to the next card - all good.

But am I seeing this right - it duplicates the last clip off card one on to card two...

Which is OK if it was just a small clip but if you're recording solid one clip for 30 mins or so and the card fills up - then does that clip get duplicated on to card two and take up 30 mins of card two also??

No, it doesn't duplicate clips, it continues recording from one to the other, and it links pointers to the two clips together so that your NLE will know that they belong together.

There is no wasted/duplicated space.

That's amazing - I'm totally sure you are right (you always are) - but I just can't see how it's doing that.

I copied the first card to a folder (that I made up the name of) on an external drive for storage..Then copied the second card later to another folder on that drive.

No connection between these folders..other than I called them CARDONE CARDTWO

I've since copied those folders to the raid drive that I edit from..

And sure enough in Premier the clip that splits the cards is in both folders (that i created).

It's like magic - very scarey!

Premiere handles spanned clips different from FCP. It will go ahead and reconstruct the entire the clip for you, making you think you have lost a clip, and only the name of the first clip is retained. So, to you it may appear to be dupe clips.
