Multiple hard drives

I am editing a feature on FCP, using a raid as my scratch disk. My workflow is to import MXF files to a firewire drive, then log and transfer to the raid. Additionally, some of my sound effects and stock footage files are grabbed from external USB drives.

Question: When I am ready for post, to transfer the whole thing to another editor, am I going to have to put every single file on one drive?

Take a look at the Media Manager to consolidate a project.

Or can you provide one simple self contained export QT file for post.

For the audio, I can export an OMF file which will give the post engineer access to the individual tracks. Won't the colorist need to work with individual clips/tracks also? And a QT export will combine everything into one track.

Ask all your post people what they will need, the sound editor will not only need the takes you use but also the ones you did not use.

Yes they would much prefer that you put it all on one drive and have it organized (just like an accountant does their job quickly when you kept all your records together), but also they would much prefer that you make an effort to split it up into parts (reels) if its a long format project
and also give them a reference movie to fix sync and other issues.

But what they'd prefer most is that you'd ask them what they'd prefer :-).
