Multiple Effects! Please help me =(

Ok so i am new to avid and i having a problem with effects. First for exsample ill put a 16x9 crop filter on a clip then ill drag the superimpose filter on and the crop marks will go away and only the superimpose will be there. Another exsample is ill have a filter on a clip and then ill go to color correct it and the filter will go away so just the color correction is on the clip! please help me i have read everything and i cant figure out how to use multiple effects on a single clip.
