Multiple clips from a feature

Director abandoned the project 85% into the shoot so this is all i have left. I put together a number of clips (sound was recorded on separate device, the sound i got is crap so i didn't bother including it).

It was a ghetho production with no C-stands, flags nets or anything. What you see here is the best i could do with 3 crammy lights with no barndoors.

Enjoy:

I really liked the quality of the restaraunt and motel clips, very well lit. I wish I could render my movies as clear as yours. My damn wmvs get oversaturated and my quicktimes get to big with shitty sound!!!! AHHHHHH !!!!!! uh oh yeah good job;)

It got abandoned -- i don't know. It's just one of thos eprojects that there is lots of enthusiasm about from everyone involved but at some point it ends up going nowhere. Good thing it wasn't deffered pay kind deal or i would be ****ed with some fooatge on no money.

Looks fantastic. Great lighting. Certainly doesn't look "ghetto."

If you can make by with minimal light kits, it's totally fine to improvise. You can make your own great blinding flags with black matte cardboard paper and black felt glued to it. Barndoors for camera lenses can be devised out of a similar stiff material with a matte surfacing. Any old tungsten lightbulbs are generally good for indoor shots like that, while whiter colored light is better for some applications like creepy outdoor nighttime shots. Just consider that fluorescent bulbs will introduce 60 Hz hum to all electrical equipment including the DVX100a audio line.

That's disappointing about your project! Do you need the director around? Why don't you simply proceed with it anyways? Looks so good!

good job

good job

patric just finish the project
if you dont have a director do it yourself
just finish it - you'll learn much more when you will see the finished movie

No. If i had the script (which is not bad btw) in the begining and someone asked me to direct and shoot it i wouldn't mind. But in the process some of nuances that were in the script were lost (like for instance the energy between main characters after they just met -- you know the first sparkle or whatever - i know it was in the script but due to carelss directing or whatever it just didn't happen on the screen). There is a number of those instances where the beauty of the moment was lost even though it was there in the script. So in other words i wouldn't want to invest another few months of my life reshooting such stuff. In others the direction this project was going was quite good but i feel not a sgood as it could have reach. Now it's all there is. And agin sahme that it will never be finished but **** it. I got paid and it's time to put it behind.

excuse my french, but that's bullshit.

People should be accountable for the trouble they put others through. If that director wants to end his career early on as "the guy who couldn't make it to the finish line" or "the guy who runs out of steam in the middle of the production" that's his fault not yours, right?

I have learned not to wait around for anyone, and certainly I am not. I pace myself so that I don't burn out like the rest of them.

Yeah, i know what you saying. I discover lately that often directing means more then just knowing where to put the camera or what to tell the actors but also being able to finish the project.
