Multiple cameras and Final Cut Pro 5

I have been enjoying the multi-camera features in Final Cut Pro, but, I have not synched up the time code in my two DVX100's. From reading the manual, it appears that all I have to do is set both cameras time code to "free run" and have the User Bit record the time and date, is that true? All help is appreciated, thank you for your time.

Yes, you should set both cameras to free run and preset. Then you adjust the preset on both cams to the same value (time), and hit menu. The cameras will ask if you want to save the new preset. Don't answer this yet, instead make sure both cameras are now asking if you want to save the preset. What you need to do now is to press yes on both cams at the same time. A trick is to place the two cameras close together and use the remote from one of the cameras to select yes on both cameras at the same time. The cams might drift a little during the day, but should stay pretty well synced.

edit:
You don't need to set the user bits to anything special if you don't want to. Keeping the time code synced is enough.
